Introduces equity scheme for all staff, together with permanent hybrid working plus 50 new roles.
7 July 2021, Dublin, Ireland: CarTrawler, the leading provider of car rental and mobility solutions to the global travel industry, has reimagined its operating model to adapt to the post Covid-19 world by making hybrid working permanent and granting an equity pool to all staff in the event of a successful exit.
As part of this reimagination of the business Car Trawler is also pleased to announce 50 additional roles. The new roles will be across Product & Technology, Operations, Commercial & Customer Service and are largely based on the demand from new partnerships in new segments that CarTrawler has signed during the pandemic. These roles will be based in CarTrawler’s Dublin HQ, which is being redesigned to create a world-class hybrid working environment, giving people the flexibility to work in the location that suits them best and a true hybrid office space with areas for information sharing, team-based working, creative/ideation, social connection and quiet areas.
CarTrawler continues to see a strong travel recovery in regions which have opened up, with its North American business already back at 2019 levels. European performance continues to be down due to Government restrictions, with the UK and Ireland having been particularly slow to allow travel to restart. However, there is strong evidence of pent-up demand as restrictions ebb and flow and there is likely to be a strong pick-up once people can travel again.
CarTrawler’s CEO Cormac Barry said “CarTrawler’s purpose as a business is to drive successful partnerships. One of the most important partnerships we have is with our people so we are shifting to an operating model that allows our staff to do their best work when and where they want, and to an operating model where our people can share in the long term success of the business. We are also delighted to announce these new roles in a clear signal of our big ambitions for the business. People want to travel more than ever, and we’ve seen a significant uptick in regions like the US where there is freedom of movement but also strong signals of pent-up demand in places like Europe, where restrictions continue to fluctuate. In uncertain times our travel partners are finding ancillary revenues more important than ever to diversify their revenue streams, benefitting even when flights were grounded. The data insight we offer our partners has also been a fundamental tool to allow them to react at pace to demand and make informed decisions on recovery.”
In April CarTrawler announced a strategic partnership with Uber to help bring Uber Rent to more customers around the world, providing all U.S. Uber app users with access to quality car rentals at competitive rates. The partnership is bringing best-in-market car rental services to its widest audience yet, enabling more people than ever to travel in a way that is cheaper, easier, and more sustainable.
The partnership with Uber is just the latest in a long line of partnerships and CarTrawler now works with some of the biggest and most innovative travel brands – including most recently Hopper, a booking app that uses data-driven tools to save customers time, money and anxiety when making travel plans. These new segments for CarTrawler are thriving as recovery is not reliant on air travel as customers book car rental for road trips closer to home. Other CarTrawler partners include American Express, easyJet, Emirates, SWISS, KLM, TUI Group, and eDreams ODIGEO.
