Senior Software Engineer Developer Experience

What are we looking for?

As Developer Experience Engineer you will deliver quality software on schedule; which contributes to the delivery of the CarTrawler business strategy. You will contribute to a culture of high performance by implementing software development practices. Working closely with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer to ensure the delivery of highly scalable and efficient tooling to multiple teams over both desktop and mobile products.

What you will be doing?

-Working with a team of Software Engineers focused on improving developer velocity, scalability, and testability of CarTrawler`s projects and platforms.
-Create the next generation of developer tooling and infrastructure for CarTrawler, focusing on productivity, testing, and release.
-Assist with the strategy and roadmap for the adoption of developer tools and test infrastructure across all teams.
-Run team meetings, tracking the team`s efficiency and quality of work, remove roadblocks and eliminate interruptions.
-Provide realistic estimates and report against expected progress.
-Working with Engineering, Product and IT to understand business requirements.
-Education and upskilling of other teams on the tools delivered by DX.
-Working with the wider team to architect and scale our pipeline infrastructure.
-Working with the wider team to meet project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
-Providing modern approaches to solutions.
-Presenting and participating in showcases, tech chats and developer conferences.

Skills required:

-5+ years` experience in a similar role
-Experience with programming languages such as Python, Groovy and Java
-Experience with Linux systems
-Be an engineer at heart with the ability to write and review code, have passion and pride in the applications that you deliver.
-Have excellent people and communication skills, are approachable and love the satisfaction that comes from helping others get the best from themselves.
-Ability to lead a team in both technology and process to pro-actively and strategically deliver results.
-Ability to attract and hire great engineers, build a high-performing team, lead and mentor them, and make them successful.
-Strong understanding of agile methodology, software development best practices and CI/CD principles.
-Excellent time-management skills to ensure that projects are delivered on time with quality.

-Experience with Docker, Jenkins and other CI/CD tooling
