What you will be doing?

The database administrator will be responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of critical SQL Server systems to ensure the availability and performance of databases.
The DBA will be responsible for all operational activities for the database including security, health and performance.
The DBA will be involved in all areas related to database systems across application, including identifying improvements or new database technologies to use. They will work with the business to ensure various reporting services are available and aid in how data is to be structured.

Skills required:

Main accountabilities and key tasks:
-Daily administration and support of the high availability production, test and development databases with emphasis on SQL Server
-Providing technical input to optimisation of SQL Server database configuration and administration processes
-Identify and evaluate database and data management technologies to maintain growth plan.
-Performance management of SQL Server objects and engage with teams in performance and problem resolution
-Engage with development teams in SQL Server application design and development
-Responsibility for the deployment and migration of SQL Server objects through the development, test and production environments
-Analysis of SQL workload including optimization reports/queries running against databases
-Identifies inefficiencies in day-to-day operations and makes recommendations for process improvements
-Support and troubleshoot system issues related to database integrations to ensure uptime and SLAs are met



Knowledge and Experience:
-1+ years in a similar role
-3+ years in an IT Role
-MS SQL server (2016,2017) with SQL query skills and performance tuning
-Knowledge of backup and recovery standards
-Reporting: Knowledge of SQL Reporting Tools ideally SQL Reporting Services (SSRS)
-Databases: Knowledge of SQL Server database design and development including the usage of DTS/SSIS packages for automated data processing and stored procedures to incorporate business logic
-Knowledge of SQL Server replication / high availability technologies
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Experienced administering databases on Windows platforms
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-Strong attention to detail due to management of high availability systems.
-Ability to work own initiative and under instruction
-Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
-Ability to quickly learn and understand new systems
