The purpose of the Role
As a Squad Lead, you will have ownership of and accountability for one of CarTrawler’s five P&L lines (known internally as “Squads”), responsible for revenues of €XXm per annum. The core role of the Squad Lead is to align and focus the Trading Squad on what problems to solve and how to best use the resources both inside and outside of the Squad to solve these problems. Trading Squads are cross-functional, self-organised, small (<8) teams, with domain expertise in digital marketing, pricing, analytics, CRM, data science and partner management. The objective of each Trading Squad is to work together to deliver trading segments’ long-term objectives (optimised trading performance and happy partners). Trading segments are groups of partners that share similar characteristics, such as business models, or similar customer residency profiles (e.g. European Airlines).

In this role, the Squad Lead is accountable for delivering against ambitious performance targets for the Squad, utilising the domain expertise within the Squad and available trading levers (e.g. pricing, CRM, digital marketing, merchandising, sort order), to optimise P&L performance. The Squad Lead will also be accountable for setting the commercial objectives around partner renewals and managing and prioritising the workload of individuals within the Trading Squad, ensuring the team is working effectively together to deliver the trading segments’ long-term objective.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
·       Align Trading Squad on what problems to solve (prioritisation) and how best to solve them (coordination).
·       Ensure P&L performance is optimised though coordination of trading levers (e.g. pricing, CRM, digital marketing, merchandising, sort order).
·       Set the commercial objectives around partner renewals and coordinate Squad resources to deliver on these objectives.
·       Lead and prioritises the workload of individuals within the Trading Squad to achieve trading and partner outcomes. Ensure activities are carried out in an effective and efficient way.
·       Coordinate data-analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover and realise/address trading opportunities/issues.
·       Keep key collaborators updated on Squad activities and segment trading performance, including key wins, issues, risks and opportunities.
§ As this is a key cross-functional role, commercial leads should at all times role model our interpersonal core values (relationships make the difference, shared wins, craic, active choices, hunger).

Knowledge and experience
·       At least 3 years’ experience in similar/relevant role, with experience managing a P&L.
·       Demonstrable history of leading cross-functional teams to drive projects successfully to completion.
·       Judgement: strong critical thinking ability, ability to make effective decisions in ambiguity, assessing implications for these decisions and considerate of and planning for unintended consequences.
·       Commercial awareness: ability to understand financial and commercial indicators and the CarTrawler proposition and history of using data insights to drive actions and P&L performance improvements.
·       Leadership: ability to bring people from different teams together and drive them behind common goals. Ability to lead opposing priorities, and to mentor others.
·       Prioritisation: ability to effectively run and preference opposing priorities, balancing CT, partner, and individual priorities to deliver optimal long-term Squad outcomes.
·       Communication: ability to communicate succinctly and impactfully to different collaborator groups. A focus on ensuring collaborator groups are proactively and regularly communicated to.
·       Excellent relationship development and negotiation skills, capable of influencing others.
·       History of building and maintaining relationships with a network of people who may be able to assist in a business context.
